Deluxe Surf Beach Culture roots stretch back to the longboard era of Duke Kahanomoku, Buzzy Trent, Lord Blears & Miki Dora; We were deep into the Rainbow Bridge shortboard revolution with Dick Brewer & Diffenderfer, Hendrix & Hynson, Bob McTavish & George Greenough; We rocked the 80’s with Simon Anderson’s Thrusters, Curren & The Echo Beach Quiks Gang; and we’ve kept it rolling right through the era of King Kelly, Andy Irons, JJ & the legion of today’s amazing airborne shredders and tow-in pioneers.
And we’ve surfed every major wave in every ocean that’s even worth mentioning. The extended Deluxe tribe includes the original surf crews from the North Shore, the West Indies, Bali & Outer Indo, Peru, France, and Africa. And Naturally this includes the entire Pacific West Coast from S.F. to Cabo to Puerto, and all the hard core Mates from Oz.
The Deluxe Design Ninjas had a major hand in the invention of Surf Wear/Action Sports Wear, and were connected to the very first major silk screen imprinted surfer tee-shirt company – California Tee Shirts – in 1971. Since then we’ve been party to the manufacture of millions of garments in over a dozen countries world wide, and under at least forty major labels covering four decades of stoked apparel – and we’re still kicking ass!
Which means that we’re making really cool graphic apparel not because everyone else is doing it. Everyone else is doing it because we were the first people to do it, and because everything we did then was radically cool…and everything we do now is just as cool as it ever was.
